The start of 2026 brought trauma for Filipino sapphics, as new episodes of the drama What Lies Beneath featured a sapphic storyline. Here are my thoughts on why this storyline struck such a chord with Filipino sapphics, and what it reveals about the typical queer experience in the Philippines.
